Valentine's Day Treat Bags

For this Valentine's Day we are making these cute little treat bags to give away to family and friends.   My six year old will take some to exchange with friends in his kindergarten class, but we will fill those with Valentine's Day themed erasers and stickers because of the nut allergies present in his classroom.  My three year old has decided on these handmade alien valentines for his friends :o)

I picked up some of the classic Hersey's Chocolate Kisses and some red heart jube-jubes from the local bulk food store.  I also grabbed a 50 pack of 2oz lollipop bags for about two dollars.

I trimmed the lollipop bags down about 2 inches since they were too long for what I needed.  I measured the width of the bag and used that measurement to cut my cardstock.  To add a little bit more detail to the cardstock, I used my scalloped edge scissors to make a cute trim.

Then I drew pictures onto the cardstock.  My oldest boy loves trains, so of course I had to draw a few of those ...

... but I am so used to doing boy-themed drawings ('cause I have three boys after all) that it took me a minute or so to think of things that would be nice for little girls to receive :o)

I even included a couple of snowflake ones just for fun!

I colored in the drawings using pencil crayons.  I have loved pencil crayons ever since grade school and so every opportunity I have to use them, I do!

We wrote cute little messages on the cardstock... things like: "You're Sweet" for the cupcakes and candy ones, and "I Choo, Choo- se You!" for the trains.  Anything goes!

Stuff the treat bags with your goodies then fold over the top of the bag and secure with tape.  I attached the cardstock to the treat bag using double sided tape (LOVE that stuff!).

Hope you try these for yourselves ... I have to admit that I did indulge and had a "few" of the candies while I was making them - oh my :o)
