Bucket 'O Soldiers - Make Your Own Tub

I have boys, so plastic army men are a part of my home's decor, as are Hot Wheels, Transformers and dinosaurs.  I have learned to embrace all these things, though admittedly I don't alway understand the fascination with them (though I have to say I am pretty proficient at transforming Optimus Prime); I am a girly-girl after all.

The boys have been off school - due to bad weather days and then because of the flu that has been going around.  In an effort to relieve their boredom, I bought some army men (who would have thought?) and the boys have have been well entertained (thank goodness!).

I spent $8 on a bag of army men.  I would have preferred the Toy Story ones that come in a cool storage tub but I wasn't about to spend $18 on it, so I made my own version for the boys.

A quick trip out to the blue box netted us with an empty formula can.   After removing the label, I was surprised to see the silver underneath - which has given many ideas for other projects, but for this one I had to cover it up.

I quickly attempted a sketch of the Toy Story tub logo, and while not perfect (by any means) the boys aren't picky and I'm learning to curb my OC tendencies (smile!).  It is, after all, just a tub to store some plastic green men in right?

I filled it in using markers where I could and then pencil crayon and crayons everywhere else.  I don't like working with crayons in general as you can never get a smooth finish, but again, we aren't being picky here.  A quick, light coat of hairspray to the paper and it was finished.

Whoo-hoo!  The army men have their own tub, and the boys are happy!

Yup, a "Bucket 'O Soldiers" for my boys.  Boy, I sure hope the little guys get better soon so life can go back to normal!
